Manager’s Message — February 2022

One of the core guiding principles of the cooperative business model is democratic, member-owner participation and control. As a member of United Electric Co-op Inc., you are not just a customer. You share in the ownership of the organization. That means you have a voice when it comes to the way business is conducted.

Every March, you can participate in United Electric’s direction by attending the annual meeting and voting in board of director elections. The annual meeting is a time for United Electric to share important information, discuss current industry issues, and conduct co-op business and elections.

This year, United Electric plans to hold an in-person meeting with an option to view the meeting virtually. The annual meeting is Tuesday, March 15, 2022. Registration is 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., with a business meeting to follow. At the conclusion of the business meeting, a drawing for door prizes will be held. Meeting details can be found in Ruralite, on our website, and on the co-op’s social media pages on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

An important aspect of the annual meeting is to elect members to serve on the board of directors. United Electric is governed by eight hardworking individuals who meet monthly to steer the cooperative by setting policy and ensuring strong financial operations. Two directors will be elected during this year’s annual meeting. The board of directors has an essential role in making important decisions, and they have a keen interest in UEC’s ability to deliver safe and reliable power to its members while keeping the cost of electricity affordable in the community.

Thank you for all you do as a member of United Electric. We hope to see you at the annual meeting.

Sincerely,
Michael Darrington
