Annual Meeting News 2023
Mark your calendars for the Annual Meeting of the Members of United Electric Co-op Inc. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. 2 board positions are up for election. Petitions to run for the board are available in the office beginning January 3, 2023, and must be filed by February 14, 2023, at 5 p.m.
Mitten Tree and Food Bank
The mitten tree in the lobby is again filling with bright displays of mittens and gloves, scarves, socks, hats and winter coats. This longtime tradition has provided winter clothing for hundreds of children. Items can be bought or handmade, but all items should be new and unused.
In addition to accepting new winter clothing, United Electric is accepting donations for nonperishable food to be given to local food banks and shelters. Suggested items are ramen noodles, macaroni and cheese, pasta, spaghetti sauce, cereal, canned meats, chili, soup and vegetables. Staple food items are always needed: small bags of sugar and flour, beans, rice, canned milk or cartons that don’t require refrigeration, pancake mix, syrup, peanut butter, jelly, tea, coffee and hot chocolate.
Check the expiration dates of all food items. Food banks cannot give out items that have passed the expiration date.
Safety Demonstrations
United Electric encourages safe practices around electricity. Education is key. Upon request, United Electric provides free safety demonstrations for schools, civic organizations and emergency personnel.
