See You at the Annual Meeting
One of the core guiding principles of the cooperative business model is democratic, member-owner participation and control. As a member of United Electric, you are not just a customer. You share in the ownership of the organization. That means you have a voice when it comes to the way business is conducted.
Every March, you can participate in United Electric’s direction by attending the annual meeting and voting in board of director elections. The annual meeting is a time for the co-op to share important information, discuss current industry issues, and conduct business and elections.
The energy industry is in the midst of significant changes. Consumer needs and changing technology impact nearly every aspect of how we manage and deliver energy to homes, schools and businesses. As we navigate the coming years, we need to hear from you and your neighbors to inform our planning as we strive to meet the long-term needs of all United Electric members.
The United Electric annual meeting is in person on Tuesday, March 14, at the Minico High School Auditorium. For those who are unable to attend, a virtual option will be available. Registration is 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., with a business meeting to follow. At the conclusion of the business meeting, a drawing for door prizes will be held. Meeting details can be found in Ruralite, on our website and on the co-op’s Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages.
An important part of the annual meeting is electing members to serve on the board of directors. United Electric is governed by eight hardworking individuals who meet monthly to steer the cooperative by setting policy and ensuring strong financial operations. 2 directors will be elected during this year’s annual meeting. Petitions to run for a board seat are available at the United Electric office. The board of directors has an essential role in making important decisions, and they have a keen interest in our ability to deliver safe and reliable power to members while keeping the cost of electricity affordable in the community.
Thank you for all you do as a member of United Electric. We hope to see you at the annual meeting.
Sincerely,
Michael Darrington
