The following candidates have filed petitions for election to the United Electric Co-op Board of Directors.
David Hruza

Born in Rupert, Idaho, I graduated from Minico High School with agriculture-related interests. I was involved in the National FFA Organization, went to state on several judging contests, and was an alternate to go to the national FFA conference for dairy judging in Kansas City.
I spent 2 years of college in Jackson, Mississippi, and Vancouver, Washington. I started farming in 1982. I farmed and operated a dairy full-time until 2000, when my interests turned toward investing.
I received my insurance license, registration, and JAR to help people with investing in securities and opened Hruza Insurance Agency in 2001. I am a past-president of NAIFA-Idaho and of NAIFA’s Southern Idaho local association, a moderator for Leadership in Life Institute courses, a moderator of Life Underwriter Training Council Federation courses through the American College, and a NAIFA Southern Idaho representative for the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. I have worked closely with NAIFA on many legislative issues over the years. I have traveled to Washington, D.C., to represent NACFA members and Main Street clients. I was recognized as Advisor of the Year by NACFA Southern Idaho. I received the LUTCF designation in August 2010 and was a recipient of the Bill Rankin Award in 2016.
I am also a member of the Big I association for property and casualty insurers. I am a past-president and a director of the Mini-Cassia Chamber of Commerce. I am an elder at Mini- Cassia Community Christian Church in Heyburn.
I belong to the National Ski Patrol and received several awards, including the Blue Merit Star award and the Kiwanis Club. I am president of the United Electric Board of Directors and have completed the Credentialed Cooperative Director courses, the Board Leadership level courses, and the Director Gold program level. I thoroughly love what I do because it involves helping people.
Saving the best till last, I am blessed to have married Marlisa Dillon on Oct. 21, 1983. We have six children and live northeast of Rupert, where we enjoy all the beauty and opportunities this area affords.
David Smith

Hello, friends and neighbors. My name is Dave Smith. I am running for reelection to the United Electric Cooperative Board of Directors.
I have served on the board for the past 4 years and currently serve as secretary. I recently finished a national leadership course for electric co-ops. I’m committed to keeping things open and transparent, so members always know what’s happening with their co-op.
As a board, we work hard to ensure we have a future with electricity for our needs.
I have lived and worked in this community my entire life and have been self-employed for more than 30 years. I would appreciate your support.
