Net Metering Provisions
  1. United Electric will not purchase power from the member.
  2. Member generation is intended to offset part or all of the members electric energy needs.
  3. Energy delivered by United Electric to the member in excess of the energy generated by the member’s on-site generation will be billed monthly at the applicable Net Metering Energy Rate.
  4. Member generation in excess of monthly energy usage, measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh) multiplied by the Net Metering Energy Rate, will be carried forward on a monthly basis as a generation credit and will be applied to the member’s monthly billed Energy Charge. This credit can be carried forward up to twelve (12) consecutive months, ending on the Net Metering year as determined by United Electric. At the end of the Net Metering year any remaining accumulated generation credit shall be given to United Electric without compensation to the member. Net Metering generation credit can only be used to offset the member’s Energy Charge. Net Metering members will be billed monthly for the Customer Charge and all other non-energy charges, such as demand. If the member leaves the system with accumulated generation credit, the credit shall be given to United Electric without compensation to the member.
  5. The Net Metering rates and fees will be reviewed annually to determine adequate compensation to United Electric and that members with Net Metered facilities are not being unduly subsidized by other members.
  6. United Electric reserves the right to modify the Net Metering Policy at its sole discretion. Members shall comply with all modifications once adopted. There shall be no “grandfathering” of member rights under the Net Metering Policy.
Requirements
  1. Signed and approved Interconnection agreement between the member and United Electric. Applicable fees must be paid in full before project is approved.
  2. Generates clean renewable energy including but not limited to solar, wind, hydropower, biomass, geothermal, fuel cell, or other sources approved by United Electric.
  3. The nameplate generation capacity shall not be less than 1kW or exceed 25 kW aggregate for the single metered location.
  4. Meets all state, local, and United Electric requirements for interconnection. Electric service must be inspected and approved by the state/city and tested and approved by United Electric before connection to the grid. Ongoing testing will be required, at the expense of the member.
  5. As determined by United Electric, the Net Metered Facility shall not cause issues with safety, power quality, or reliability on United Electric’s distribution system. United Electric at its sole discretion may disconnect service to the facility until corrective action has taken place.
Policy Statement

United Electric Co-op, Inc. (United Electric) provides its members choices to offset their energy needs with their own on-site renewable generation.  This policy sets forth the requirements for members to interconnect on-site generation up to 25 kilowatts (kW) to the distribution grid.  Members have the choice to remain connected to United Electric’s system and draw energy whenever their on-site generation is not producing power or producing enough power to meet their needs.  If the members on-site generation can produce more energy than they need, the member may be credited for the power through the Net Metering process.  This arrangement requires a Net Metering facility and an approved agreement with the cooperative and compliance with the following conditions:
